Sidney Grossman |
Chairman Emeritus Sidney Grossman has more than 60 years of experience in the scrap industry. He began working at Grossman Iron & Steel in 1939 and took over as president in 1943 -- a position he held for the next half century.
During World War II, Sidney served our country as a member of the Business and Defense Services Administration.
Throughout his career, Sidney was active in the Institute of Scrap Iron. He served as a director and president of the local St. Louis chapter and as a national director and board member.
Sidney became a charter member of the St. Louis Chapter of Young Presidents Organization in 1952. He took over as president of this organization in 1962. He also was a charter member of the World Presidents Organization formed in 1971. In 1979, Sidney was elected national president of this organization.
Today, Sidney remains a board member and executive with Grossman Iron & Steel. He also donates time to the Biomedical Engineering Department at Washington University's School of Engineering & Applied Science in St. Louis.
